Recently, the China Productivity Promotion Center Association announced the results of the 2023 'China Good Technology' review. Hunan Gaorui Power Materials Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as 'Gaorui Power') submitted the ' High-performance lithium battery separator water-based fluorine-free functional coating' technology achievement stood out among 576 competing technologies, successfully selected for the A-class project database and awarded the ' China Good Technology' title.
Lithium-ion batteries are widely used in energy storage, power, and 3C electronics, with their main components including the shell, electrolyte, positive and negative electrodes, and separator. The functional coating on the separator is an organic polymer material applied to the surface of the separator, playing a key role in improving cell hardness, suppressing cell deformation, and reducing interfacial resistance. However, existing mainstream products still face industry pain points such as weak adhesion, inconvenience, high costs, and lack of environmental friendliness.
To turn the industry's 'pain points' into 'breakthrough points' for industrial upgrading, Gaorui Power formed an international R&D team and collaborated with universities and research institutions. After three years of exploration and research, a high-performance lithium battery separator water-based fluorine-free functional coating with stronger functionality has officially entered production. A relevant person in charge of Gaorui Power introduced that this coating can bond at room temperature with strong adhesion; it does not require secondary dispersion before processing, simplifying the process; it has stable supply and reduces costs by 30% compared to imports; and it is fluorine-free, making it more environmentally friendly, with all performance indicators reaching a globally leading level.'The market prospects for separator functional layers are broad. We have now designed and built two automated production lines, equipped with production technology teams, with an annual production capacity of up to 10,000 tons,' said the person in charge.
'The 'China Good Technology' solicitation activity aims to better promote technological innovation, stimulate creative vitality, facilitate the transformation of achievements, and showcase Chinese brands.
Gaorui Power is a national high-tech enterprise, a specialized and innovative small and medium-sized enterprise in Hunan Province, a new materials enterprise in Hunan Province, and a new type of R&D institution in Hunan Province. After years of careful cultivation, the green and environmentally friendly water-based adhesive for lithium batteries developed by the company has reached international first-class level and is now applied in products of first-class enterprises both domestically and internationally.
Currently, Gaorui Power is accelerating the transformation of new quality productivity technological achievements. The lithium battery adhesive material project located in Xiangtan High-tech Zone is expected to be completed by the end of the year, and after it goes into operation, the production capacity is expected to reach 50,000 tons.
