On June 2nd, the Changsha Bank・2025 Hunan Province "Pingdong Sanxiang" CTT Table Tennis Points League "June 5 Environment Day Cup" Xiangtan Table Tennis Association Substation Competition kicked off as scheduled in Xiangtan City.
At the opening ceremony, many leaders and guests gathered together to witness the launch of this event that emphasizes both environmental protection and competition, including Zhou Peiluo, former vice chairman of the Xiangtan CPPCC and honorary chairman of the Xiangtan Table Tennis Association; Wang Xinping, member of the Party Working Committee and deputy director of the Management Committee of Xiangtan High-tech Zone, and Party branch secretary of the Xiangtan Table Tennis Association; Wang Weizhi, member of the Party Leadership Group and deputy director of the Xiangtan Ecological Environment Bureau; Liao Yong, chairman of the Xiangtan Ecological Environment Protection Association; Chen Feixi, deputy secretary-general of the Hunan Table Tennis Association and director of the Market Development Department; Dr. Xi Liujiang, chairman of Hunan Gaorui Power Materials Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Gaorui); and Zhou Xiaofang, chairman of the Xiangtan Table Tennis Association.
As the sponsor of this competition, Gaorui, together with many table tennis enthusiasts, witnessed the exciting moments of the competition.
This competition set up nine categories in total: adult singles in the third, fourth, fifth, and sixth dan groups; handicap doubles matches; and youth singles in the second, third, and fourth dan groups. It attracted more than 300 table tennis enthusiasts from Changsha, Zhuzhou, Loudi, Yongzhou, and the host city. On the court, the players' agile postures and precise shots won rounds of applause and cheers from the audience. More notably, during the event, the organizers also incorporated interactive segments such as environmental knowledge quizzes and garbage classification mini-games, allowing participants and spectators to enjoy the competition while learning practical environmental knowledge and enhancing their environmental awareness.
After a whole day of intense and fierce competition, the dan champions of each group emerged. They earned direct qualification for the year-end finals with their excellent skills, stable performance, and strong will. Beyond the competitive victories, the greater significance of this event lies in its successful integration of environmental protection concepts with sports events. Through the influence of the competition, it spread the idea of green living and inspired more people to participate in environmental protection actions. As Liao Yong, chairman of the Xiangtan Ecological Environment Protection Association, said at the opening ceremony: "We hope that through such activities, more people will realize that protecting the environment is everyone's responsibility. And the spirit of sports is exactly the perseverance and courage we need when facing environmental challenges."
This table tennis event showcased the positive and uplifting spirit of the citizens.
